Overview
For a forested hillside above Aspen, we collaborated with Timberline Build Co. to deliver a blackened cedar, barn-form retreat beneath a standing-seam roof. Spanning entry to primary suite, the project celebrates dark timber cladding, warm interior glow, and a quiet New England-inspired restraint, resulting in one of the most rewarding commissions we have completed.
Project Details
The brief called for a home that would recede into its clearing in summer and hold firm through heavy snow in winter. Charred cedar board-and-batten, a standing-seam metal roof, and paired ridge skylights carry a single material language from the stone entry path through to the primary suite. Deep eaves and warm interior lighting temper the long forest evenings without curtains or screens.
