Join us for a public evening on designing resilient, low-carbon homes — a practical conversation about the choices that actually move the needle. Less manifesto, more method: what we've tried, what it cost, and what we'd do again.

The topic

Our principals will talk through material choices, passive design, and building for the decades ahead, drawing on real projects rather than abstractions. Expect specifics: what worked, what cost more, and what we'd do differently.

We'll look closely at embodied carbon — the emissions locked into a building before anyone switches on a light — and make the case that the greenest building is usually the one that already exists. Adaptive reuse will feature heavily.

What we'll cover

The evening is organised around a handful of decisions that recur on almost every project: how much to insulate, where to spend the carbon budget, when to reuse rather than rebuild, and how to keep a house comfortable without leaning on mechanical systems.

Who should come

Anyone building, renovating, or simply curious about how buildings can do less harm. No technical background is assumed, and there will be plenty of time for questions — the discussion is usually the best part of the night.
